I have been renting text books since I started college in 2004 and I have no idea why more people don’t do it!  I understand that some books (especially science books) need CDs and activation codes, etc. but most of the time, you can purchase activation codes separately and some rental books come with CDs too.  It’s significantly cheaper and really convenient so definitely look into it!

I like Chegg.com the best.  I’ve never had a hassle with them, books are shipped fast and you are provided a return shipping label for the end of the semester when you’re ready to send the book back.  You can also sell your used text books to Chegg!  Check them out:
